Description

Diageo is the world's leading premium drinks business with an outstanding collection of beverage alcohol brands across spirits, wine and beer categories. These brands include: Smirnoff, Johnnie Walker, Captain Morgan, Baileys, J&B, José Cuervo, Tanqueray, Guinness, Crown Royal, Beaulieu Vineyard and Sterling Vineyards wines, and Bushmills Irish whiskey. Diageo is a global company, trading in over 180 markets around the world. The company is listed on both the London Stock Exchange (DGE) and the New York Stock Exchange (DEO).

Purpose:
The Policy Manager role is part of the Shared Services Center, which provides HR support for all of the Americas as well as the Caribbean. This position will provide oversight and governance for all HR policies and play a key role in creating the kind of employment culture Diageo aspires to have. The current situation is that our policy database in the US is fairly robust while those in Canada and our Latin America and Caribbean (LAC) businesses will require some dedicated focus to ensure we are aligning our HR policies to the business agenda, including our Diversity and Inclusion strategy.

Financial Responsibility:
This role itself will not have a budget to work within but there is an expectation that with a centralized approach to this area, we want to ensure we are getting maximum value for the policies we have in place and are utilizing external vendors properly. Management Responsibility: The Policy Manager will be required to work across multiple functions and manage a wide range of vendors. It will also play a lead role in the NA Policy Forum as well as a similar group for our LAC business.

Complexity of Role:
Current support for our policy agenda is only a part of one person's role and is based on coverage for only 2 countriesthe US and Canada. We will soon be expanding from these two (2) to 16 with addition of our LAC business unit. There will be a significant on-boarding piece including diagnosis of current policies within LAC and the drive towards consolidation where it makes business sense. The approach to policy management in LAC has historically been highly localized to the country level and will require a centralized resource to help manage through the significant change in this space. The change required is careful housekeeping of the policy materials/information to be clear on what the 'big rules' will be across all markets and to help make conscious decisions about what needs to be added, changed, deleted or left alone. There will be a significant amount of senior stakeholder management required. At a minimum, the HR leadership teams from these two different businesses will be important groups to coordinate with.

Key Outputs Deliverables:

· On-going review to support variety of initiatives ranging from required changes due to legislation, adjustments based on feedback from employees/HR BP's, expanding consideration to support a more diverse/inclusive culture, learning's from applications to various awards (eg Fortune Best Companies to Work For or the Human Rights Campaign)

· Drive consistency with the vision of what the new HR policies are: a Shared Service Center that is focused on brilliant execution of core programs/processes

· Consistent levels of external benchmarking to ensure we are considering all options and maintaining required levels of legislative control

· Be the central figure responsible for the on-going maintenance of all our HR policiesthey must be clear and support what the business is trying to accomplish

Requirements

· 8-10 years of HR experience, either in a large multi-national corporation or with a particular focus on cross-country policies

· Individual must be fluent in both English and Spanish, knowledge of Portuguese a plus

· Prior experience as an HR generalist with some oversight over HR policies is a plus
