POSITION SUMMARY
Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) is responsible for USIG's overall business and financial planning, forecasting and analysis efforts. FP&A conducts analysis of business and financial results, including profitability dynamics, scenario analysis, financial/business projections, financial ratios/trends, etc. FP&A also serves a key role in driving the integration of USIG's strategic and financial planning efforts. In addition, FP&A analyzes USIG conditions in relation to external competitor and industry benchmarks, leads the development of rating agency and board materials, and drives the development of metrics and scorecards to assess USIG performance.

OVERALL RESPONSIBILITY:

The Finance Analyst position is responsible for conducting analysis and developing conclusions that support the following FP&A Strategic Planning & Industry Analysis team objectives:
Conduct competitor and industry financial analysis (including review of company results in relation to external benchmarks, applicable trends and inter-relationships).
Develop and maintain performance scorecards and metrics (in relation to the business/strategic objectives and internal benchmarks).
Oversee the integration of USIG's strategic and financial planning efforts.
Conduct investment related analysis (e.g., results, conditions, forecasts, etc.).
Participate in rating agency and board matters analysis and reporting (as well as ad hoc and executive management reporting).
Conduct in CBA support and monitoring for projects, programs and initiatives.
Function as the liaison with Corporate FP&A and USIG functional areas on plans, forecasts and analysis.
Function as the liaison with Corporate Controllers on investment information and forecasts.
Efficiently and effectively manage assigned funds within the Company.
Conduct research projects and economic studies.
Create financial models and conduct forecasting.
Present findings and make recommendations to management that result in significant business impact.
May develop and implement reporting methods.


Requirements

This individual in the Finance Analyst position should possess knowledge/skills in relation to financial and analytic activities within the financial services industry. Some specific attributes include:

The ability to initiate positive business action based on actionable financial analysis.
Understanding of financial statements and accounting standards.
Knowledge of financial dynamics and profitability drivers.
Experience with financial models and/or analytic tools.
Analytic and problem solving capabilities.
Written and verbal communication skills.
Self starter with strong motivation.
Experience in the insurance industry (minimum 2-5 years).
College degree in accounting, finance or a related field (e.g., mathematics, economics, etc.).
MBA, CPA or similar designation is a plus.
